The Opportunity
Barnhill Contracting Company has long been recognized as one of the Southeast’s leading contractors. Guided by their founders’ vision, a commitment to excellence, and a focus on being one of the best places to work and build a career, Barnhill has set itself apart. As the company expanded through acquisitions and new divisions, the need for a unified and consistent brand became clear. To meet that challenge, Barnhill partnered with Capitol B to refresh their brand identity, rebuild their website, and develop a communications strategy to carry them into their next chapter.

The Work
Our partnership with Barnhill began with a series of discovery sessions — first with current leadership, partners, and clients, and later with the “old-timers,” a respected generation of longtime employees who shared their stories on camera. Through these conversations, it became clear: Barnhill has always been a people-first company. That spirit, carried through decades of growth, shaped the direction of the brand refresh. Showcasing projects and craftsmanship mattered, but putting people at the center is what truly set Barnhill apart. Elegant black and white portraits would compliment work photos to portraty Barnhill in an honest, distinct light.
From there, we refined Barnhill’s brand positioning and messaging, consolidating and updating the old and adding the new. The refreshed brand was brought to life with a new website that reflected the same quality and care as their work in the field.
We also created a series of internal videos, from employee interviews to safety guidelines, strengthening communication across the company.
Most importantly, we captured it all in a comprehensive brand playbook, giving Barnhill the clarity and consistency to align every touchpoint with their vision. From new employees to company veterans, the playbook would enable everyone to speak the same language and activate the brand in consistent ways.
